POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
In North Carolina we have established a political action committee called M*PAC or Merchants Political Action Committee.
What is M*PAC?
The Merchants * Political Action Committee (M*PAC) is registered with the North Carolina State Board of Elections as a qualified bipartisan political action committee. M*PAC seeks to make campaign contributions to candidates for the North Carolina General Assembly who have demonstrated an understanding for and support of retail issues.
How is M*PAC Funded?
North Carolina law prohibits political action committees from receiving contributions from corporations. M*PAC is able to accept personal checks, personal credit card charges and cash (cash may be accepted as long as the daily contribution does not exceed $50.)
What are the benefits to supporting M*PAC?
It is vitally important to the retail industry that business friendly candidates be elected to the North Carolina General Assembly and Council of State offices. The cost to run a campaign has increased significantly in the past few years due to North Carolina becoming a two-party state and the fact that more expensive media outlets are now utilized in campaigns. The more contributions made to M*PAC, the more the retail industry can help elect business friendly people to office.
How do I contribute to M*PAC?
Simply print the form below and either fax the form in with your credit card information to (919) 832-0812 or send a personal check to M*PAC, PO Box 176001, Raleigh, NC 27619.
Get Involved in CFIC Make a Contribution to M*PAC!
CFIC has placed a renewed focus on the legislative and regulatory process. Our staff works hard to be sure that the interests of the food retailer are presented to members of the North Carolina General Assembly. During each legislative session your CFIC lobby team does just that – walking the halls of the North Carolina General Assembly daily representing the interest of food retailers.
CFIC works hard to pass bills that will help your bottom line and just as hard to defeat bills that will place onerous burdens on the way you do business each day. This task is made easier when legislators understand the important role the food industry plays in the success of North Carolina.
Now is the time for the Merchants*Political Action Committee (M*PAC) to identify which candidates M*PAC should choose to receive meaningful contributions to their campaign. M*PAC is solely dependent on member contributions for fundraising (corporate contributions are disallowed by state statute).
We hope that you will consider making a contribution to M*PAC!
