WHO REPRESENTS ME?

In North Carolina, we are represented by two U.S. Senators (these are elected at-large and they both represent each citizen in our state).

There are 13 members of the U.S. House of Representatives (these are called Congressmen) and because they are elected from a specific district, you are represented by only one.

There are 50 members of the North Carolina State Senate, called State Senators, but only one represents your geographical district.

There are 120 members of the North Carolina State House of Representatives, called State House members, and only one represents your State House district.

Each decade after the census is completed, the population changes, and the voting districts are re-drawn. For that reason, it is difficult to keep up with the migration of districts. Even though you have not moved, and your polling place remains unchanged, the number of precincts that make up a particular congressional or State House or State Senate district can change. To help our members know who represents them is very simple.

Click on the link below:

You will then click on the button labeled Representative

Scroll down to the section that says "zip code" and enter in your nine-digit zip code.

If you are like many of us and don't know your nine-digit zip code, you can click on the search engine provided to enter your address, and with the click of your mouse, your zip code will appear! Note that driver licenses issued in recent years also have your nine-digit zip code.

After you enter your nine-digit zip code, the screen will display the name of your State House member, State Senator, and United States Congressman.
